The Protecteur du citoyen received three reports concerning Les Résidences du Chemin du Roy, located in Mauricie. The allegations pointed to various failings that, among other things, jeopardized the safety of the residents. The Protecteur du citoyen decided to intervene.
A woman had to spend a few days in a hospital to receive care. When she arrived, a COVID-19 outbreak had begun. She wanted to go home but she was not allowed to, even though she had tested negative. Her daughter was worried and complained to the Protecteur du citoyen.
Every year in Québec, more than 21,000 elderly people need a place in a public residential resource. The Protecteur du citoyen investigated the rules and practices surrounding access to permanent residential resources. On October 28, 2021, it released a special report on the subject.
A woman had some backfilling done. The Ministère de l’Environnement et de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques said that she was not authorized to do so and demanded that she restore the site to its original condition, even though the municipality had told her she could go ahead with the work. She complained to the Protecteur du citoyen.

On September 30, 2021, Québec Ombudsperson sent the Committee on Citizen Relations a brief about Bill 101, Act to strengthen the fight against maltreatment of seniors and other persons of full age in vulnerable situations as well as the monitoring of the quality of health services and social services.
In a letter sent to the Committee on Labour and the Economy on September 23, 2021, the Québec Ombudsperson commented on Bill 100, Tourist Accommodation Act.
