For each disclosure or report it receives, the Québec Ombudsman determines whether or not it can investigate. At the end of an investigation, if we see that wrongdoing has occurred, we make recommendations. We make them to the responsible authorities so that the situation is corrected or the problem is denounced. Here are investigation conclusions that show how our interventions are carried out.
The Québec Ombudsman intervened at the Hôtel-Dieu Shelter in Montréal, which provides emergency accommodation for the homeless. The purpose of the intervention was to verify the quality of the services offered there.

Various practices by the educational staff, including disciplinary measures, were deemed inappropriate. The Québec Ombudsman decided to intervene.

The Québec Ombudsman received a report about Ressource intermédiaire La Victorienne, located in Gatineau. It houses vulnerable adults. Apparently, there are recurrent problems with the care and services provided to them. The Québec Ombudsman decided to intervene.
The Québec Ombudsman received a report about Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus’s medical device reprocessing unit. It decided to intervene because of the potential risks of unsure care being provided to service users.
The Québec Ombudsman received a report about the safety and quality of care at Hôpital de Sept-Îles. This hospital reports to Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de la Côte-Nord. The Québec Ombudsman decided to intervene with the CISSS.
The Québec Ombudsman received a report concerning the safety and quality of the care provided at two residential resources which are partners of Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de Lanaudière. The Québec Ombudsman decided to intervene.
The Québec Ombudsman received a report about Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux (CIUSSS) de l’Estrie. Seemingly, the supervision of people with symptoms of dementia at Hôpital de Granby, which reports to the CIUSSS, was inadequate. The Québec Ombudsman decided to intervene.
The Québec Ombudsman received a disclosure concerning the authorities of a government department who supposedly had favoured not-for-profit organizations in awarding subsidies. The Québec Ombudsman decided to investigate to see whether wrongdoing had occurred.
The Québec Ombudsman received a report about CLSC Naskapi, located near Schefferville. Staff shortages had allegedly caused service ruptures. The supervision of the staff was also at issue. The Québec Ombudsman decided to intervene.
