A man injured on the job filed a complaint against the Commission des normes, de l'équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST). The agency was making it difficult for him to be reimbursed.

He had been paid indemnities by the agency for several years.

In a few days, the man would be receiving medical aid in dying. He wanted his garage to be repainted so his property would be in the best possible shape. Usually, for the CNESST to reimburse him for this type of work, all that was needed was an invoice. But this time, even though he explained his situation, he was asked for two detailed bids. This requirement weighed heavily on him given the circumstances.

The Protecteur du citoyen made the CNESST aware of what the man was going through. It also reminded the agency that the law does not require two bids.

The CNESST quickly approved the reimbursement application.
