A citizen filed a complaint against the Ministère de l’Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale, which had not issued him all his special benefits.
Normally, he received financial assistance to cover his transportation costs for medical appointments. Despite that, he said that, for certain periods, he had not received the amounts he was eligible for.
The Protecteur du citoyen explained that while the man was involved with L’Arrimage, he did not qualify for these benefits. Emploi Québec already granted him money to cover all his monthly travel expenses.
However, the investigation showed that, for a month during which he was not involved with L’Arrimage, he had not gotten his special benefit.
At the Protecteur du citoyen’s request, the Department issue the missing payment.
L’Arrimage is an employment assistance service. It is offered in partnership with Emploi Québec to people with mental illness.
