Intervention report concerning Centre hospitalier de l’Université Laval du CHU de Québec — Université Laval

Body

The Québec Ombudsman received reports concerning the lengthy wait times for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at Centre hospitalier de l’Université Laval (CHUL).

The Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux maximum target time for access to an MRI for all care priority levels is fewer than three months.

The investigation by the Québec Ombudsman showed that the delays did not comply with this time frame.

The institution established several measures in an attempt to decrease these delays. Despite these initiatives, wait times continued to be considerable. The Québec Ombudsman therefore felt that supplementary action had to be taken and that CHU de Québec had underused certain options.
