On Thursday, March 29, 2018, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., the National Assembly Committee on Public Administration will discuss the follow-up to the Québec Ombudsman report entitled Private seniors’ residences: more than just rental businesses, published in 2016.

The Committee will question Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux and Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Occupation du territoire representatives about follow-up to the Québec Ombudsman’s recommendations.

The recommendations aimed to:

  • Improve the protection of seniors, especially the most vulnerable ones.
  • Prevent and rectify harmful situations and deflect litigation away from the courts.
  • Level the playing field for lease signatories through better information about tenant rights and support.
