An incarcerated man files a complaint against a detention facility that kept him in isolation even though he was fine.

According to the facility, the man had made suicidal remarks. The staff had to use an assessment grid to determine the risk of him committing suicide. The inmate was kept in isolation until an officer was available to examine him.

In the isolation room, the man claimed that he did not want to commit suicide. Despite this, four days later, the assessment had still not been carried out due to a lack of staff.

The Protecteur du citoyen intervened and urged the facility to speed up the process. The man was assessed and no risk was identified. He was able to return to the regular detention area.
