A citizen complained about Revenu Québec, which had cut part of her solidarity tax credit.
Revenu Québec had done this because the woman supposedly owed it money. However, the debt had already been paid off.
The citizen sent Revenu Québec proofs of payment, but it stood its ground nonetheless.
During the investigation by the Protecteur du citoyen, Revenu Québec saw that mistakes had occurred in handling the woman’s cheques. The debt had indeed been settled. As a result, the agency agreed to reimburse the citizen.

The solidarity tax credit helps individuals and families who have low or moderate incomes.
