A woman files a complaint against a hospital that billed her for a room she did not wish to occupy.
She had requested a semi-private room, but had to be placed in a ward instead. Since she was comfortable there, she told the staff that she wanted to stay. She was told that she could, but was not informed that she had to notify the admissions department.
The woman later had to move to a semi-private room. She was billed for the use of this room.
However, the woman had clearly stated that she preferred to stay in the ward. The staff should have given her clear instructions on how to change her room selection.
The Protecteur du citoyen intervened, and the woman did not have to pay the bill.
