An elderly person has filed a complaint against her local community services centre (CLSC) for denying her access to the service employment paycheque.

The woman is very ill and has difficulty getting around. What is more, she lives in a remote area. She therefore needs help to run errands. She has a limited budget, but with the service employment paycheque, she could hire someone to help her. However, the CLSC rejected her request on the grounds that this type of assistance is not covered by home support services.

However, an exception could have been made in this situation, in accordance with the home support guidelines of the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux.

At the request of the Protecteur du citoyen, the CLSC granted the woman the allocation.
