The family of a person who died filed a complaint against the staff of a CLSC who should have paid more attention to the person’s condition.

The sore for which the person was receiving home care became infected. Not long after, the person died.

Our investigation showed that the staff had not assessed the sore often or accurately enough. Moreover, they had not analyzed the person’s general condition even though it meant a higher risk of infection.

Since our intervention, the staff must use a form for assessing sores thoroughly. The CLSC also ensures that its staff conduct an overall examination of the person if needed.
