A permanent resident lodged a complaint against the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Francisation et de l'Intégration, which failed to consider his availability for French courses.

The man was looking forward to taking these courses, which were essential for his integration. However, he could absolutely not free himself up on Sundays. On his application form, he therefore indicated that he was only available on weekdays. Despite this proviso, the Department offered him the Sunday course.

The man had to refuse this proposal, which made him lose his spot on the waiting list.

The Protecteur du citoyen intervened regarding the Department. It agreed to fast-track processing of the man’s application for classes for the next session. This time, it took his availability into account.
