Since April 1, 2014, parents eligible for this service, who wish to obtain an adjustment of the amount of support payments for a minor child, can turn to the Service administratif de rajustement des pensions alimentaires pour enfants (SARPA), without the intervention of the court. The mandate assigned to SARPA is to facilitate the child support review procedure, a problem the Québec Ombudsman has addressed repeatedly. SARPA is added to the list of institutions or public bodies over which the Québec Ombudsman has jurisdiction and can intervene if citizens consider they are being treated unfairly or incorrectly .
