On October 14, 2021, let’s mark Ombuds Day together.
This special day is celebrated by ombudsman offices around the world on the second Thursday of October. It is aimed at educating people and raising their awareness about the profession’s history and practices. "Ombud" is the general term for an ombudsperson of any gender.
Impartial and independent, ombuds work behind the scenes to resolve complaints filed by citizens. The complaints may concern public services (municipal, provincial, federal), private-sector organizations (including banks) or postgraduate educational institutions. Despite their varied mandates, ombuds have a shared goal: to defend the principles of justice and fairness.
