The Québec Ombudsperson is the new president of the Association des Ombudsmans et Médiateurs de la Francophonie (AOMF). Marie Rinfret was elected for a three-year term of office on Thursday, November 25, 2021. She has been the Association’s vice-president since 2018.

The Québec Ombudsman wishes to underscore the work of Mr. Mohamed Benalilou, the outgoing president and Médiateur du Royaume du Maroc. He will now become the AOMF’s second vice-president.

Since its creation, the Québec Ombudsman has been proud to contribute to developing the ombudsman concept in Canada and abroad. It, with the Médiateur de la République française, spearheaded the formation of the AOMF in 1998.

The AOMF brings together independent mediator institutions of French-speaking countries. It promotes the role of mediator and ombudsman within parliaments and governments which are members of the world community of French speakers. With support from the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), the AOMF contributes to the development of ombudsman and mediator institutions.
