A citizen lodged a complaint against Retraite Québec which was slow to issue her surviving spouse’s pension.

When her spouse died, the woman applied to the agency for the pension. She had to jump through hoops to prove the personal relationship she had had with the deceased.

A year after the sad event, Retraite Québec finally approved her application. However, several months later, she had yet to receive anything.

After the Protecteur du citoyen intervened, Retraite Québec quickly authorized issuance of the pension. The citizen got the amounts she should have received since her spouse’s death.
