In a letter sent on August 26, 2021, to Jean Boulet, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity, Québec Ombudsperson Marie Rinfret commented on the draft Regulation to amend the Individual and Family Assistance Regulation.

Ms. Rinfret pointed out that the draft regulation responds favourably to a recommendation made in 2013, and which she took up again in her 2019-2020 Annual Report.  She applauds the fact that it proposes advances for last-resort financial assistance recipients. She also approves of the increases and indexation for some special benefits.

However, the Québec Ombudsperson feels that these changes should apply to all special benefits. She made three recommendations in that regard.
