On March 2, 2022, Québec Ombudsperson Marie Rinfret wrote to the Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and Ombudsman in Ukraine, Liudmyla Leontiivna Denisova.
At a time when Ukraine is wracked by tragedy and death, on her own behalf and that of her institution, Marie Rinfret expressed her complete solidarity with her Ukrainian counterpart. She also conveyed her admiration of the fact that the Office of the Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights and Ombudsman has remained operational and is currently playing a key role in coordinating essential services on the ground.
"In these uncertain times, the Ukrainian institution is an unfaltering beacon for the population," Québec’s Ombudsperson insisted as she voiced her profound desire for a rapid return to peace.
