On April 27, 2023, Protecteur du citoyen Marc-André Dowd tabled the institution’s 2023-2028 strategic plan at the National Assembly. This document stems from in-depth deliberations about the issues that the institution (the Protecteur du citoyen) faces.
"Our 2023-2028 strategic plan is a road map that is ambitious and realistic. It will enable us to continue our mission while maintaining the high level of satisfaction experienced by the people who use our services. We are constantly striving to improve the practices surrounding our actions. Today, we are adding to our priorities the continuous improvement of our management practices that make our institution an inspiring employer," said Marc-André Dowd.
The Protecteur du citoyen’s new five-year strategic plan has three overarching themes:
- Affirming our leadership in matters of the quality and integrity of public services;
- Seeing to the continuous improvement of our services;
- Being recognized as an inspiring employer.
Objectives have been defined for each theme, including:
- Increasing public awareness of our role and mandates;
- Giving more feedback to the government departments and agencies departments whose implementation of our recommendations is being tracked;
- Continuing to develop our relations with First Nations and Inuit;
- Reviewing our quality standards and ensuring that all our sections comply with them;
- Attracting diversified talent as prospective employees and retaining them.
