In office for ten years, Ombudsperson Raymonde Saint-Germain is leaving the Protecteur du citoyen today. The appointment of her successor must be approved by two thirds of the members of the National Assembly of Québec.

In the meantime, Mr. Claude Dussault will be the Acting Ombudsman. Mr. Dussault has been the Deputy Ombudsman - Services to citizens and users – since 2009.

Madam Saint-Germain will soon take her seat in the Senate of Canada as an independent senator. Throughout her career with the Protecteur du citoyen, her rigour, sense of commitment, will to see that the most disadvantaged among us are respected, and desire to recognize the value of Québec’s public services have set the tone for the institution. Forever aware of the need for improvement and reform, she never shied away from recommending it when necessary.
