In a report released today concerning the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ), the Protecteur du citoyen called attention to wait times of more than two years on average before the homes of severely injured persons are adapted to their new condition, according to results from a sample of 63 files handled by the SAAQ between 2012 and 2014.
As Ombudsperson Raymonde Saint Germain sees it, “such delays have significant repercussions on the daily lives of injured persons and their families on many levels, for example, personal hygiene, independence and safety.”
Further to the investigation it conducted, the Protecteur du citoyen made eleven recommendations, all of which the SAAQ responded to favourably.
