Intervention report concerning Résidence Murray, a private seniors’ residence
The Québec Ombudsman launched an investigation into Résidence Murray, a private seniors’ residence located in Sherbrooke, after receiving a report concerning negligent care and service provision and the inadequate behaviour of the operator of the residence.
Further to the investigation, the Québec Ombudsman deemed that the allegations concerning deficient care and service quality were unfounded. However, the investigation confirmed that residents or their families were obstructed in expressing their dissatisfaction with the services received at Résidence Murray.
So as to foster respect of the residents’ rights, the Québec Ombudsman made four recommendations to the operator of Résidence Murray and to Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de l’Estrie – Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke. The residence and CIUSSS d’Estrie – CHUS agreed to implement the recommendations.
