Intervention at Fondation Aube Nouvelle, a private seniors’ residence
The Québec Ombudsman received a report concerning shortcomings in the quality of care and services, especially concerning financial solicitation of the people living at Fondation Aube Nouvelle, a private seniors’ residence in Saint-Victor de Beauce.
While there was nothing to indicate that care and services were deficient, the investigation showed that there was confusion among the various missions of Fondation Aube Nouvelle. In addition to managing a private seniors’ residence, the foundation was also a charitable institution and, in that capacity, was tasked with raising funds.
The Québec Ombudsman felt that better differentiation between Fondation Aube Nouvelle’s activities and administrative management would enable the Fondation to structure its services. Moreover, this would allow better understanding of its slate of services as an operator of a private seniors’ residence.
That is why the Québec Ombudsman made four recommendations to Fondation Aube Nouvelle, which it pledged to implement.
