Seemingly, staff turnover was high and there was a shortage of healthcare personnel. This situation allegedly affected certain aspects of assistance and hygiene care to the residents.
The investigation showed that the CHSLD grapples regularly with healthcare team shortages. Despite the CHSLD’s efforts to cushion the impact of the situation on its client population, certain care and services were delayed or even omitted. As a result, the residents’ quality of life was affected. However, the findings did not suggest that the residents’ safety was being jeopardized.
The Québec Ombudsman made two recommendations to CHSLD de Saint-Lambert-sur-le-Golf. They were aimed at improving the continuity and management of the care and services that had to be delayed or omitted in such circumstances. The CHSLD accepted both recommendations.
