Intervention at Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux des Laurentides
The Québec Ombudsman received a report concerning deficient planning by Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux des Laurentides (CISSS) when people were admitted to Ressource Yellen (an intermediate resource), and then when the residence closed.
The Québec Ombudsman considered that the CISSS had clearly underestimated the human and psychological impact of the hasty relocation on the residents. That is why it made recommendations to the CISSS, which the CISSS agreed to implement.
This situation illustrates the need for proper planning of transitions, even when decisions must be made quickly.
