Intervention at Centre d’hébergement L’Éden de Laval
The Québec Ombudsman received various reports about Centre d’hébergement L’Éden de Laval (Éden). They described flaws in the quality of the care and services provided by means of an agreement with Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux de Laval (CISSS).
The investigation by the Québec Ombudsman showed that Éden had been assessed several times in the past few years. The CISSS and the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux had made certain recommendations to the residence, including the application of instructions and communication with the families. Even though overall the situation had greatly improved since the CISSS had intensified its monitoring and supervision, the Québec Ombudsman was critical that the CISSS had been slow to do so.
In its report, the Québec Ombudsman made two recommendations to the CISSS and three others to the residential centre. They were aimed at improving the quality of care, services and the living environment. Better communication with users and their families was also considered desirable.
The recommendations were approved by both bodies.
