Intervention at Le 1313 Chomedey, a private seniors’ residence
The Québec Ombudsman received a report concerning failings in the services offered by Le 1313 Chomedey, a private seniors’ residence.
The investigation showed that most of the reported shortcomings were unfounded. However, the Québec Ombudsman made recommendations to the residence and to Centre intégré de santé et de services sociaux (CISSS) de Laval, the institution responsible for certifying private seniors’ residences in the region.
The recommendations to Le 1313 Chomedey were aimed at:
- Ensuring that personnel use an appropriate relational approach with the residents at all times;
- Quickly detecting situations in which it is found that a resident’s physical or mental health requires care or services that exceed what it can offer or poses a safety risk, and informing CISSS de Laval without delay.
The recommendation to CISSS de Laval consisted of supporting the residence in implementing the second recommendation. The residence and the CISSS agreed to act on the recommendations.
