Intervention with CISSS de Chaudière-Appalaches
The Québec Ombudsman received a report about the CHSLDs of Chaudière-Appalaches. Apparently, the presence of a nurse was not ensured at all times. The Québec Ombudsman decided to intervene.
For each disclosure or report it receives, the Québec Ombudsman determines whether or not it can investigate. At the end of an investigation, if we see that wrongdoing has occurred, we make recommendations. We make them to the responsible authorities so that the situation is corrected or the problem is denounced. Here are investigation conclusions that show how our interventions are carried out.

The Québec Ombudsman received three reports concerning Les Résidences du Chemin du Roy, located in Mauricie. The allegations pointed to various failings that, among other things, jeopardized the safety of the residents. The Québec Ombudsman decided to intervene.
The Québec Ombudsman was informed about deficiencies in the care and services at a residential resource. The report concerned Elder’s Home of Ungava Tulattavik Health Center, located in Kuujjuaq. The Québec Ombudsman intervened.
The Québec Ombudsman was informed about various problems with the care and services at the emergency room of Hôpital Anna-Laberge. It decided to intervene.
The Québec Ombudsman received a disclosure of wrongdoings involving a public body. A scheme to increase the remuneration offered to a future employee was allowed by a person in a position of authority. This increase was against the applicable rules.
The Québec Ombudsman was informed about problems related to certain care procedures and services at Hôpital de Matane. It decided to intervene.
The Québec Ombudsman received a disclosure about a family medicine group decision-maker who allegedly committed a wrongdoing in order to obtain funding.
A person felt that he/she had witnessed gross mismanagement within a college. The person complained to the Québec Ombudsman.
The Québec Ombudsman learned that someone who had just registered with a family doctor had to start the process of registering on the Québec Family Doctor Finder (GAMF) from scratch. The Québec Ombudsman decided to intervene on its own initiative.
In an intervention report released on April 18, 2018, the Québec Ombudsman criticized the disparities in billing for hospital rooms.
